Full bio

Lila is a Scottish actor, writer, producer and voice-over artist from Dundee, now based in London. A graduate of Rose Bruford College, she works fluidly across stage, screen and audio, balancing classical training with a sharp instinct for bold, contemporary storytelling.

On screen, Lila has appeared in The Crown (Netflix), Dept. Q (Netflix), Bogart: Life Comes in Flashes (Apple TV) and Egon Schiele: Dangerous Desires (BBC), alongside further projects for BBC and Sky. Her theatre work spans some of the UK’s most respected stages, including the Royal Shakespeare Company (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare in Music), Shakespeare’s Globe (King John, The Taming of the Shrew (workshops)), Pitlochry Festival Theatre, National Theatre Scotland, Park Theatre (world premiere of a new musical version of Thérèse Raquin), and Jermyn Street Theatre (UK premiere of The Kissing-Dance). She has also toured extensively in Whisky Galore (Hull Truck, New Vic and Oldham Coliseum) and appeared in acclaimed family work at the Unicorn Theatre, including Baddies and Marvin’s Binoculars.

As a voice over artist, Lila’s recent work includes The Guardian’s Today in Focus podcast, campaigns for Visit Scotland, ADR for Netflix and the BBC, an Audible audiobook, and coverage for BT Sport’s Europa League, alongside commercial campaigns for The National Lottery, BBC3, B&Q, Dorothy Perkins, Union Square and David Lloyd.

With roots in music, Lila is a mezzo-soprano singer and multi-instrumentalist, playing flute, saxophone and autoharp. Her musical credits include singing on original cast albums for Thérèse Raquin and Baddies: The Musical (Unicorn Theatre), and her musicality continues to inform her work across stage and screen.

Alongside performing, Lila is an award-winning writer and producer. Her debut solo play, LOOK, NO HANDS, won the National Partnership Award 2021 and enjoyed a critically acclaimed run at Summerhall during the Edinburgh Fringe 2022, earning ★★★★ from The Scotsman (“a rich tale on two wheels as a metaphor for personal growth and discovery”) and ★★★★ Pick of the Fringe from Mervyn Stutter. Her first short film, JUST A WALK, which she co-wrote and produced, received a McLaren x Creative Access bursary. Her short script Asbestos Hands was selected for a BAFTA Scotland Script Spotlight session at Glasgow Film Festival 2024, where the script was performed by a cast of professional actors and followed by a development-focused discussion led by experienced industry professionals. The project was also longlisted for Sharp Shorts, Screen Scotland’s commissioning scheme, and selected for Omnibus Theatre’s Engine Room development programme 2024. Lila was recently selected for Convergence, the screenwriting programme run by Short Circuit and Screen Scotland and is a BAFTA Connect member. Her stage writing has been supported by Tamasha Theatre’s Regional Voices programme, and she was commissioned by Pitlochry Festival Theatre to write The She-Town Ballad as part of Shades of Tay.

When she’s not on stage, on set or in the writing room, Lila can be found running half-marathons, practising yoga or travelling, always chasing the next story, sound or spark of connection.
